“Nickel Boys”: An Impactful, Stunning Literary Reimagining

One of the most eerie and impactful films I've watched in a long time is Nickel Boys Flixtor. It transforms Colson Whitehead's amazing book into a daring, avant-garde movie that captures your entire focus. To depict the narrative of Elwood and Turner, two Black boys locked in a terrible reform school during the Jim Crow era, RaMell Ross's directing is unvarnished and unapologetic, alternating between shattered recollections and heartbreaking realities. The plot revolves around the real-life tale of a young man who is transported to a reform school where young Black men are routinely murdered, tortured, and brutally disciplined after being falsely accused of car theft.
